Are you struggling to keep your Grade 4 students engaged during music lessons?

Does this sound familiar?

You’re sitting up late at night… trying to plan tomorrow’s Grade 4 music lesson, wondering:

  • “How can I get these 9-10 year olds excited about music?”
  • “What activities will actually hold their attention for a full lesson?”
  • “How do I teach ensemble skills when half the class can barely keep a beat?”
  • “Where do I even start with composition activities for this age group?”

If you’re nodding your head thinking “Yes! That’s exactly me!” then you’re not alone.

Grade 4 students are at that tricky age… They’re too sophisticated for the simple songs they loved in earlier grades, but not quite ready for the complex material that works with older students.

They want to feel grown-up and capable, but they still need structure and guidance. And let’s be honest – they can be a tough crowd to please!
