What is the Fun Music Company Curriculum?
The Fun Music Company curriculum is a complete music program for Primary or Elementary general music classes.
It is specifically designed to meet curriculum requirements, while at the same time making lessons engaging and fun for children.
It does this by structuring activities around the four areas commonly found in every music curriculum in the world: AURAL, SING & PLAY, COMPOSE and CONNECT.

The concept with aural training is that we are training our mind to use our ears as the first entry point for the brain. AURAL is about experiencing the elements of music such as beat and melody, so rather than it being an intellectual teaching process, it is more about students discovering music through experience.
The Fun Music Company SING & PLAY unit for Grade 5 music lessons contains four fun and engaging folk songs. These have been carefully selected and arranged by classroom music experts.
In this grade children will learn to sing in Spanish in Cheki Morena, they will have fun with home-made and bush instruments in the classic Australian folk song Waltzing Matilda, they will SING & PLAY the beautiful folk song Inanay Gupu Wana and have great fun dancing and singing to Alabama Gal.
There are videos showing each step of the process, from the introduction to the song through to playing as a classroom ensemble.
In the COMPOSE unit of Grade 5 music lessons children will begin working with technology. They will record and notate their own compositions. We use simple and free software solutions, suitable to any device you have available.
Students begin with improvisation, then learn to record and notate their improvisation patterns using notation and technology.
In the CONNECT unit of Grade 5 students will listen to a wide variety of music from the theme to “Star Wars” through to Middle-Eastern and Japanese pop music.
Through listening to a wide variety of music in this unit, children will identify purpose and meaning in music and discover how the elements of music are used to convey these meanings.
