The Kodály method is most impactful when begun in early childhood. The optimal window is Foundation to Grade 2 (ages 5–8), when children are naturally receptive to learning pitch and rhythm through play and song. However, the sequential approach can be adapted for any age group, including older primary students and adults beginning music study.
